Guys, this is a great thread! TR, your wife's bike looks fabulous. We've done the 11" shocks on the wife's 07 Low but now we need to do the bars and risers. TR, do you have info on which bars you put on? Doesn't look like HD has any that will work. Any info on the cables you used would also make my life easier as well. And if that ain't enough bother, the wife wants to know where you got the windshield. Methinks I've created a monster! Thanks for your help.
I lowered the wife's 2009 1200 Low by replacing the stock shocks with 11" Progressive rear shocks and sliding the forks up the triple trees 3/4" and replacing the jiffy stand with on for the Nightster stand.
It's lower than a Nightster now..
Gamma - thanks for the road map.
The wifes 1200 low
I lowered the rear end with Progressive 11' 412's #412-4062B/C
Slid the forks up the Triple Tress 3/4"
Installed a Chrome Drag Specialties 1" shorter Kickstand #0510-0079
All was very easy to do myself. She loves it and it has boosted her confidence and abilities.
My wife is short too. We bought her an 08 883L and put 11' progressive shocks with a lowering kit. Real low now but have trouble with scraping when cornering and shocks bottom out real easy. To top it off she still is still not flat foot at a stop . Been thinking of fixing the frame over the winter and I'm not sure what is all involved with that. Her confidence is getting less as time goes on.
tiger, did you move the rear lights when you added bags,i just got some just like them and am at a loss how to mount them.could you show some pics of them and any parts you used.thanks
My wife is also short and didn't want to ride her 883 because she wasn't flat footed at all. I lowered the rear 3", the front a little over 2" and swapped out the stock seat for one that is about an inch shorter, a little narrower and puts her about 2" further forward. Now she's flat footed, knees bent and very comfortable. She's much more confident on hers now as well. Wants to ride all of the time.
I put the 2-up seat on it & ride around with my daughter when my wife is at work. Never scrape and have never bottomed out...yet, atleast.
