Default 883 to 1200 conversion

Do any of you guys know if I will have to change the stock CV carb on my '90 883 Sporty when I convert the top end to 1200? I would like to continue running my carb as I have it tuned perfectly for the bike as it is but with a bigger top end I'm thinking I may at least have to change out the jets. Anyway, any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

My guess is you'll have plenty of carb unless you plan to do some really heavy duty head porting (i.e., take things to Stage 2 or 3 in addition to doing 883-1200). It won't hurt to go to a bigger carb (say, Mikuni HSR42?) but not absolutely necessary... Good luck!

Just got back from the dealor about it. and AZflyingdiver is right. You dont need a new carb, but you do need to re-jet. and having a bigger carb does help.

Crazy: I run #48 low and # 180 high. Works for me. All engines are "one of a kind" so you will have to feel your way thru the carb tuning. ........... BC
