Looking to change my exhaust, air intake and re-jet. Has anyone customized a 2004. I am looking for looks and performance.
The weather finally got so nice today that I just had to get my '04 (stage 1) out for a spin. Jeez, that 1200 has a lot of giddy-up-and-go!! Good thing I didn't take my 100 lb wife with me... she'd had beaten me about the head and ears to slow the thing down, assuming the sissy-bar kept her from getting left behind. This ain't your grandpa's Harley! Wow!
'04 XL 883 C: Dual disc brakes up front on the original wire wheel hub (H-D says you can't do this, but it works)
Bars off of a XL 1200 R Roadster (wider with more pull back)
Shock absorbers from a Dyna (13.5 inch long)
Mid position controls (I don't like forward control position)
Luggage rack (small)
Mini sissy bar (very small, great extra handle for moving the bike around the garage)
Designer fat grips (don't like them, would prefer the original rubber grips)
Memphis Shades Windshield (better quality than H-Ds)
Lowered front directional signals
Screaming Eagle Exhaust Is (should have gone with the SE IIs)
Carb re-jet & tune
Brake light conversion to rear directional signal (like to be seen!)
Lay-down license plate holder
Dual rider seat
Changed fork oil to "competition" grade, prob. about 15 wt.
Tried a Superbrace on the forks, made no difference what so ever so put it on another bike.
Thinking about going to 1200 ccs and a trike conversion for my wife.
