im getting ready to chop my rear fender and im looking for some suggestions.
any pics of chopped rear would be appreciated. i searched and some are too old and the pics are gone and i think i only found a couple threads with actual pics.
im also looking for side mount tag plates with lights.
here are pictures of my fender chop before it got repainted. i made my own side mount plate bracket and used LED light bolts that i found on ebay for $15.
Also check out www.xlforum.net for some pics/info on chopped fenders. there's not much to it really. As for the side mounts the one you listed is cool but I gotta say that Dreamweavers has not had the best rep. (read a lot of posts on the dyna forum about breakage). I run a Road 6 customs mount myself for like $20 and its worked fine the last year or so and 10k miles (you can find them on ebay). I beleive the 06 yr. went to the 1" axle so yours is probably 3/4" but either way the end of the axle where the nut goes on and clip is only 3/4" even on my 1" axle.
Here's a pic of a fender I did on my Sportster. It's real easy to do.I scribed a line with a grease pencil and cut it.I used a dremmel instead of an angle grinder. It took a little longer ,maybe five minutes, but I gives a much cleaner cut with no paint chipping. This was the first cut.I have since cut it again but have no pics since the cycle is apart now.It looks pretty much the same except I cut the sides out and shortened the strut covers again
