We have had pretty good weather the past couple days so I've been riding everywhere. I was workin late night on a school project and needed one of those 5 hour energy drinks. As I'm turning into walmart, I hit a lone patch of ice and went down pretty hard. The bars rolled forward, cracked the rear left blinker housing, and somehow bent up my licsence plate (not a side mount). The worst part is that I had to go right back to school, work all night, go straight to classes the next morning, and didn't get home till 8 pm the next day to work on it. It was killing me. Everything was fixable except I'll have to replace that blinker.
Yep, on New Years Day '06. I went on a ride with some friends and we came up on some ice and were going over it slowly when my buddy behind me (with his kid on the back) went down. I knew to not touch the front brake, but outa habitI grabbed it to stop and make sure he was okay. Big mistake! I face planted, and had a headache for about two days after that one! Didn't do much to the bike though, just a few scrapes. It sucks though! Be glad you didn't get hurt!
Never been down on ice but it is what i fear the most. It's a terrible feeling to lose all traction and the bike just slips.
I've had similar problems the first minute or 2 when a light rain starts.
Good thing you weren't goin any faster and good thing you werent injured.
Yeah thanks guys... I'm very glad I wasn't hurt, and that I didn't ruin the bike... The blinker will be fixed. Also, very glad I didn't smash the helmet I was wearing because I was trying my girlfriend's dad's HD modular out. He keeps that thing spotless.
My arms are sore, because I just grabbed the handle bars and threw that thing up in a heart beat. A clearer mind would not have lifted from the grips.
