1) I have the detachable windshield with the medallion on it, the one that leaves the hardware on when you take it off. I have read all about windshields here and have seen that people have had to go through several different ones before finding the right one for themselves. Mine gives some buffeting at the very top of my head once I get going around 60mph or so. It does not cause my entire head to bobble, rather it vibrates the top of my head. It is worse when I wear my full face. I have adjusted the shield all the way up and have even put some washers between the shield and the brackets in an effort to push the shield slightly forward. The question here is do all windshields cause some vibration or should I start looking for a taller one. I am 6'-1" 225 on my 07 custom.
2) I have the V&H slip ons and was at the dealer the other day looking at the quiet baffles. The guy behind the counter told me I could purchase some wrap from the auto store and make my existing ones quiet myself. He said that is all the quiet baffles are. Is this true? if so where do I get this wrap, the Auto Zone here only has wrap for going on the outside of the pipes.
I have the shorter detachable windshield that leaves no hardware on the bike. I'm also only 5'5". But I haven't noticed any issues with the buffeting. I don't wear a full helmet ever either.
As for the qb's... I changed out my standards for the quiet baffles as well and I'm much happier with them now. However as I remember it, the qb's were closed at the ends and had what appeared to be a fiberglass wrap on the/in them. They were much different than the standards. The standards are open on both ends. I would say that wrapping your standards will not accomplish the same thing since the ends will still be open.
Windshield buffetting exists on most all windshields it just varies with the riders hgt., type of helmet, windshield hgt. and angle. For some a shorter shield directs a steady and not so turbulent flow of air at the helmet and others a taller shield that you look through vs. over works better. Typically leaning the windshiled fwd. as you did actually creates a more trubulent air pocket behind the shield. Leaning it back if possible will direct the air flow better. Sometimes its not so much the flow of air going over the shield so much as aathe up draft coming from under it so you see the variables are many and most of us complain about it from time to time
By the way, Memphis shades makes replacement shields for HD hardware in varying hgts. and widths.
Personally I have the HD quick detach shield and though I get buffetting its not really all that bad but it does seem to increase a little with my FF helmet that and the updraft blowing up under my chin vs. most of the year when I wear a 1/2 helmet.
As for your baffle question I can't speak regarding those pipes but in general the coutner guy was right in that most quieter baffles merely have insulating wrap over them which dampens the sound even with completely open baffles.

Thanks for the replies. I will look further into the baffle issue and see what I come up with. As for the shield I will continue to play with that untill I find what works. I may try lowering it as stated to see how that feels. I really only use it when riding highways speeds to help keep the fatigue down. The wind blowing on my chest at those speeds tire me out much quicker.
No answer to question one b/c i ditched mine the day I got it. As far as the baffles go I dont know how to fix your current ones, but if you can't figure it out, I would look into these http://www.bigcitythunder.com/pages/...erMonster.html I have the Thunder Monsters and they are amazing. Great product, hope all works out for you.

If he wants quieter then no on the Thunder monsters. I had those in my old SEIIs and while sounding pretty good and deeper they were indeed louder. Not sure what they sound like in V&H slipons but probably close to the same.
