Hard start
I brought my 86 883 in to an Indy for hard starting problems. This was after I replaced the plugs, coil and battery. They have rebuilt the carbs and tell me that the compression is low, and recommend rings, valves, etc. The bike was running ok before, once it started, with no smoking, no loss of oil. Could the rings and valves be a cause for the difficult starting? They said the V.O.E.S. and ignition module checked out fine. The engine would eventually start after my being on and off the starter button for 2-3 minutes.
