Ok I fell out of bed and bumped my head. After saying for many years Id never own a motorcycle, Im thinking Im going to buy one. Probably never buy another.
Im stuck between the 883 and the 1200. I wanted a lowrider, but the custom has a larger gas tank. the sales guy said in to big for the 883L . 6' but only 155 lbs. So I dont want a heavy bike.
So far my main problem with the 883L ins the small gas tank. I dont need to nor will I ever drive 90 or 100 mph on 2 wheels so Im not crazy about paying the extra for the 1200, but I want the bigger tank, I may cross the country one day. Cost is an issue.

Best thing is to go to the show room and sit on the bikes, see which is more comfortable, you may find another bike you haven't considered to be more fitting, Does anyone know how difficult it is putting a larger tank on an 883L?
At your height, I am surprised that you would even look at the 883L or even the 1200L. Seems like you would be uncomfortable on either of those bikes.
Have you looked at the 883C. Larger fuel tank, forward controls, and a couple thousand cheaper than a 1200.
Advangtages for the 883: Cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, a little better fuel economy.
Advantages for the 1200: More power. Can be important if running the interstate or if you do much two up riding.
Good point about the interstate. Hard to go many places without the freeway. The reason I didnt look at the biger bikes is the weight, I figure these are big enough. I need to do some more 'sittin'. Just need to figure out more questions before I go back.
