Smile Which oil to use? I guess its all relative.

Just got back from picking up some Mobil1 vtwin 20w50 at autozone. I realized that whichever oil you decide to run in your scoot, its all relative. After 3 oil changes now, it comes down to which label you want to run. Changing lubricants and filter on your bike is never gonna be as cheap as changing it on your auto. Whether you choose to run Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple, Mobil1 or even HD's syn3, its still expensive. So to all those other riders who wonder which one is best, they all claim to be the best, but basically there are only minor differences between them. Use whatever you feel comfortable with, they are basically all synthetics and offer better protection over the dino stuff. They will all protect your bike under normal driving conditions to 5k miles without a hitch. I have had regular HD dino, Syn3, Royal Purple and now Mobil1 in my bike. It boils down to whether you want to change oil every 2500 miles or 5000 miles and how much your comfortable paying. Synthetic isn't cheap.

Dino oil is good for 5000 miles too. Some won't go that long on it, but ask people who go 5K on dino oil how many oil related break downs they have had.

Change it every 5K, and keep the level where it should be, you will not have oil related problems.

I would, however, recomend using an oil designed for a motorcycle (although I am not convinced it is essential).

LOL cHarley, maybe this will end the threads about which oil to run, but i doubt it. Everytime a new batch of riders join the forum, its gonna come up. Guess we will just have to deal with it.

I really don't think it really matters as long as you keep it changed at regular intervals. the syn is supposed to be the best stuff but i think you should just use the type you like.

I think I'm gonna switch to KY Jelly. My other ride seems to like it.
