My bike is currently running SE Slip ons. They of course suck. Well I dont guess they suck but I'm not very happy with them. I'm not really wanting to shell out 500 bucks on a complete system so I was wondering about the slip ons. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a complete syatem? And how do they compare to slipons?
What do you want to accomplish, better (louder) sound, better performance, or better looks?
You should decide that first as it will narrow down the choices quite a bit.

Performance is always a plus but as long as I dont lose any performance I'll be ok. Really just a better sound. Do the slipons compare to the completes sound wise?
My V&H slip ons are plenty loud and give nice performance. They're actually louder than my double barrels on the Softail. I get compliments on their sound all the time. They cost me like $200 on ebay.

Listen for yourself.. my rush slipons . turn the volume up way loud and still does not do justice compared in person under throttle..
I assume being a 2006 that your slip-ons are SEII's, if so I have heard good things about the big city thunder baffles and I don't think they would harm performance any if not improving it a bit. Or you can remove the baffle completly and run around the block, you'll know pretty quick if it's too loud.
If it's performance only that you want a good 2 into 1 system will help but you will loose a lot of that classic Harley sound.
I have SEII's with the standard baffles and they are loud enough for me (and my neighbours).
i really like the sound of my v&h straightshots slip-ons, people are alway asking my what i did to the motor thinking it is modded, some old harley guys think i have cams in it (i picked it up used) not sure and not about to tear it apart to confirm....anyhoo, back tot he pipes, it is in a garage but you get the idea.
