I ran a metzler 880 up front for about 3000 miles with the stock dunlop on the rear. Now I have both metzlers. No problems even in the rain.

Different tire models / brands will have a different grip and if you are an aggressive rider in the twisties, I wouldn't want a softer compound on one tire than the other... I really wouldn't worry about it unless you are going to the track with it.

Different tires will have different tread patterns which means they will handle differently. Mixing tires is not recommended. Fronts are cheaper and easier to replace anyway. Do both and you could try something other than stock.

I just replace mine when they are wear out. Unless you are racing it won't matter.

I just got done running a Metzler up front & a Dunlop on the rear with no issue......As said, you really will not notice the difference unless you're taking it to the track & have a bunch of experience on the track with various tires.
