Exclamation UH OH!!! Problem??

So I was checking my air filter today and when I got the cover and filter off, I notices some oil residue on the butterfly valve, and on the inside of the filter. What does this mean?? Maybe too much oil. last time I changed it it was like 30 degrees outside as the high for a while. I have checked it before, and everything looked good. Yesterday I rode for 150 miles, at about 80 deg. and then today I check it and this. Any help would be appreciated.

i dont think you got anything to worry about. probably just a little blow from the head vents. now if its dripping with oil thats a different story

Default Thanks for the quick reply

It's not dripping, but I freak out with stuff like that. I have this weird thing about my intake getting gunked up. Anyone else have this issue??

Run a little seafoam through it to clean it out. Try to keep your oil on the dip stick in-between the marks or a touch lower to reduce blow by.

Its very common.

It's exactly what you will have when the breathers are piped back into the intake. You can thank the EPA for that nonsense.

That's why some of use run a breather bypass.

Just keep your oil level half way between the full and add marks and you shouldn't have any problems.. I haven't had any blow-by on my nightster at all...

How hard is it to install the breather bypass, what do they cost and where can you get them?

That little piddle of oil is no problem, almost every engine built vents crankcase blow by back into the intake to get rid of it, if it's not running all over evrywhere then there isn't anything wrong.
