Default well this sucks

So a few months ago I decided to make some saddle bag supports for my sporty. Only cost me about 10 bucks total to make them and they seemed to work great. Well recently my bike developed a rear end squeek. I couldn't figure out where it was comming from and only seemed to do it when I was sitting on the bike, especially when rolling it backwards. So I took it to the dealer and they figured out where it was comming from....my home made support on the right side was rubbing on the belt guard. When I made them I failed to take into account the distance decrease with the compression of the shocks. The rub was enough to take the paint off down to the bare metal on the guard. Let this me a lesson learned, I guess sometimes its worth paying for overpriced dealer stuff. Not sure what to do now. Obviously it should be fixed but I am not sure if I should just take it off or get some paint and just touch it up.

Yep sometimes it doesnt pay trying to save a few bucks. I have learned that lesson more than once, but thank god never on my bike. Why not take off the chain guard and just get it profesionally painted.

I am sure the stealer was like "told you so" but screw him! like the others said, rattle can the thing and keep on riding, it's a chain guard, not the gas tank!

You did a fine job on what you did now all you have to do is tweak it a little and things will be fine. I'm sure if you made the thing to work you can find a way to make it better.

Take the belt guard off and leave it off, looks better without it anyway and you don't have to modify your rack.
