Default another stage 1 question

I'm getting ready to complete my stage 1 and trying to decide what i'm going with. For the a/c I'm almost certainly doing the hd screaming eagle kit.

But for the fuel pak, I'm not sure. I was thinking i'd just do the download, but I just found out it's $180 plus $80 labor!? WTH?

So I'm now looking at the v&h fuel pak as well (I have the straight shots slipons). Anybody have experience with that pak, or something similar? How difficult is it to install? The site I was looking at made it sound easy.

Any advice?

I have the Fuelpak and the only problem I had was the installing. Getting the plug under and between the frame rails, with enough room to squeeze the battery back in was tough. That was the only problem.

I got a power commander 5.
Call Jamie @ Fuel Moto and tell him what Intake/Exhaust you have.
He'll map it for you and ship it, got mine in 2 days.

Was ready to plug right in, worked fine. No complaints.

Just an FYI, I used a SE Stage 1 Intake and Hooker Troublemakers Exhaust.

It was $350 I think for the Power Commander 5.

Looks like they took the price off the site, so it might've changed.
Just give Jamie a call (number is at the top of their website) for pricing.

for the a/c...peep out the Hurricane-flow from NRHS....i did a intall thread with close up pics of it over on xlforum

http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=489456

WAY BETTER than the s/e unit.

no plastic, all machined billet aluminum and a real k&n element also designed to use the ham-can cover just like the s/e unit.

Most people tell me that the fuel pak and power commander are basically the same, and the difference rolls into preference. the main thing i want is to be able to reprogram it in a couple years, because I know i'll change my pipes again eventually. this is the big thing for me as opposed to going with the dealer download, plus i think their price for it is ridiculous. the fuel pak is a little cheaper, so i'm leaning on that one right now.

I've got the FuelPak on both my bikes and the Sportsters even got the pipes you're considering. I'll admit, I didn't put a lot of thought into the matter as V&H recommended the FuelPak for their pipes. But the fact that it can be moved to another bike in the future was a good thing. Installation was tricky due to the tight area to work in, but once you get it in there, it velcros to your battery and it's set. I've had no issues with the performance on either bike. I put in the Quiet Baffles and was able to reprogram the FuelPak in about 2 minutes. For the price and ease, I'd recommend the FuelPak. It's really just a preference thing.

I did my 2007 883 with V&H short shots, SE air, and the fuel pack. It runs great. If you do both the ac and the pipes you need a remap. One or the other you don't. I'd say go with the fuel pack. The only thing is it's difficult to fit it in. V&H short shots(370) SE AC (around 80) (fuel pack 370). Do the math. You can put it all in yourself. No need to give your money to the stealer. Keep us posted, let us know. Best of luck, Keep it in the wind..........HOLLYWOOD
