Default Brake pedal replacements?

I just bought the wife an 06 883 Low Sporty and was told the brake pedal is a non replaceable part , unless you want it chromed in which it already is. The foot pegs, grips and shift lever pegs all match so I was looking to do the same for the brake. The parts counter guy told me to lightly grind down the little ridges on top of the stock brake pedal and drill a hole in the center so it will accept the brake pad accessory, that Harley sells to match the rest of the bike. Has anyone else done this and are there any other places to find a brake lever which will take the brake pedal covers.

Mine has the HD forward controls, which came with the solid brake pedal. I drilled a hole and added the KuryAkyn pad. It's been on there for at least 6 years with no problems.

I didn't grind down the ridges either. I just drilled a hole in the pedal and installed the pad.

I added an aftermarket pedal cover to my '04 883. I just used a file and smoothed out the ridges on top and the flattened the one big ridge on bottom. Drilled a hole through the center and screwed the pedal down. Can't even tell it was "farmerized". I did have to get a little longer screw to fasten the pedal but I guess that just depends how much you want to file. Let me know if you want a pic.

Also, if you don't want to file on your chrome pedal, buy the normal aluminum one. I think they are actually pretty cheap.

Another way to go is to change the shifter peg from the stock rubber one to something polished/chrome to match. Then the foot pegs are rubber and the shifter and brake pedal are all metal. That will get you uniformity with no drilling. Decide you don't like it down the road, just put the old shifter peg back on. Worst case you are out maybe $10-15. And you don't have holes in anything.
