Oil change time.

I went in for my 1000 miles service,and am now about due for my 5000.Is this one a big deal, or can i just do it myself? ill go with mobil 1 20/50. do i need to do the Tranny too?

Yep the tranny needs to be changed at least every 5K. Some do it more often. Mobil1 75w90 gear oil in the tranny. Get a service manual for your bike and follow the list of checks and adjustments for the 5K service.

My owners and service manuals do not list the tranny fluid being changed at 5,000 mile service.

Maybe it would help if you posted info about your bike, like what year?
Do you have an Owners Manual? It lists the oil change info there.

06 and later the tranny/primary change interval is 10,000 miles. Before 06 it's 5,000 miles.
