Just wondering if there is anything special i need to do when the fluid is changed for the very first time. I just bout a 2007 nightster and it only had 2200 miles on it. Anything special i need to do when time comes? I know how to change the oil so i am good there but at what mileage do i change it at? I will go to full synthetic on the first change. all help is appreciated

The service manual suggests oil changes at 1,000, 5,000, an 10,000 miles. If you don't plan on taking it the dealership, do yourself a favor. drop some cash and get the service manual from Harley. I got one for about $60 and it has already saved me hundreds of dollars in service charges. Change your primary oil too if you can. The first time i changed mine I was suprised how much assembly grease came out. It looks like milk. I can't stress it enough though buy the manual. Be prepare to buy some model specific tools too. The intial investment is a little high, but doing all the work yourself really get you familiar with your ride and is very gratifiying. Plus you'll save a bunch o' cash for more important stuf. Like beer and bike sh*t. Later and good luck.

Also, if you are doing the fluid changes for the "first" time, you are a little behind the 8-ball already as the post above explains...your first change should have come at 1000 miles. I would get those done asap!

Engine oil in the engine, gear oil in the primary!

well i am not sure if the guy did it at 1000...is there one that would be considered the big change cause that is all he said that it hasnt had the big change yet. Also as with my 2004 883C the oil change is done and it includes the primary. Different in this one?
