thanks for the info and I spent about an hour on a sat morning when my bike had about 100 miles on it workin on getting the filter loose , i knew it would be a job and i did not want the bike to cool down when i was actualy ready to change the oil while i struggled with the filter
Go to Pep Boys,or maybe it was AUTO ZONE,and get a filter wrench that fits on the end of the filter. There is no 'struggle' involved. Just insert your rachet drive, or extension, and twist the filter off.

They only cost a couple of dollars, and make changing the filter a snap.
ok thanks for the advice on the filter remover , I actually have two already at tthe house but one was too big and one was too small , will check auto zone for the proper size , but since i bought a k&n filter , i will only need it once.
