SE II Slash down...I was nervous about getting them cause I didn't know how they sound. Love the looks. After I got them on, couldn't be more happier. Nice rumble but not toooo loud. Based on the audio clip, I think V&H StraightShots sounds better on the throttle pulling out, but I didn't like the plain looks. SE II was a good compromise.

I think the performance of most 'aftermarket' exhaust systems is so close it's a matter of personal preference; what you think looks best, what you think sounds best, etc..

You might find an exhaust system that pulls an extra horsepower or two on the dyno, but this is usually under controlled conditions, and more often than not at the upper end of the RPM band.

One or two horsepower would be important for a bike that spends it's life at the dragstrip or track, but for 99.99% of normal street riding I wouldn't consider it a big deal.

Agreed, Cycle shacks are great. I got the CS tapered slip-on mufflers. They sound fantastic and They are also smaller than the stock pipes, gives them a sleeker look.

My father just installed the cycle shack drag pipes on his 883. Great sound and style. They also fit up with his stock heat shields. 150 dollars uninstalled.

Guess I'm in the minority, but I really like the looks and performance of the stock pipes now that they have been 'gutted' (muffles/restrictors removed).

I've had a number of comments from people on how good they sound, and they can really 'bark' if you get on the throttle. They are more or less open pipes, and we left the hidden crossover attachment in them to balance out the flow.

The tone is very 'deep', and not tinny like many aftermarket systems.

I might change them out for some other pipes, but if I do it would be for cosmetic purposes only, not because of performance or tone.

I'm guessing everyone has their own favourite but I'm hoping the H-D SE11's I just bought (haven't had them put on yet) are going to fill my expectations, those being, not too loud but louder than stock and a bit more of the Harley 'sound' that I paid for.

Iron Legend, i don't think you'll be let down. Very nice Harley sound, but not too loud, to wake the dead.

And the slash cut just looks cool...
