Default Black wrinkle finish

I recently purchased an 09 Nightster and want to black-out the engine like on the Iron 883.

Has anyone removede the covers and powdercoated them? Maybe purchase new ones from the dealer and replace my originals.

Any suggestions?

Johnny

do yourself a favor and find a good indy. have them break the motor down and send it all out to powdercoat with whatever local guy they use or find your own. then have them put it back together and you're on your way. i made the mistake of buying the parts online, what a nightmare, it all worked out in the end but i was ready to slit my wrists at one point or someone elses. check my profile for pics if you like or check out the last thread i posted titled "Latest pics of my N".

Don't know how easy it was for him but there was a guy on here called slackster who went the poor man's route and he simply took his covers off and rhino lined them and, at least in pictures, it looked great.

just be real careful not to get anything on the gasket surface areas cause once you have to start sanding and **** to get it out, you may run in to problems like i did. pm slackster and see what he tells you.

Also, the Rino liner would act as an insulator.. I wouldnt do it at all.. I sprayed my Dyna during the top end job and think it looks great. I intended to get a powder coat kit, but it didnt work out a the time and I'm not the least bit disapointed with the engine paint.
