Make sure the bike gets used or turn on winter mode or the battery will die unless it is on a tender 24/7.2006 may be different but I doubt it .I have seen quite a few complaints about this.Mine came with the damn thing and I wish it didn't.My wifes 02 will start after sitting all winter with a way older battery.Mine won't.

'06 earlier can be programmed manually and the button is used to turn the system on and off.
'07 later is the smart security system no buttons present as the alarm turns itself on and off automatically.
