I washed my bike today and after finishing the cleaning I went for a ride. The first thing I noticed was that the speedo wasn't working. So of course I turned around and came right home. Once in the garage I starting checking things: the turn signals, horn, brakelights, speedo all are not working.
The headlight is working, both low and high beam. The tail light works and the ignition works. I pushed the trip button on the back of the speedo and the speedo would light and show the miles and both turn signals would flash a couple times but then everything would go off until I cycled the key and pushed the trip button again.
Any ideas? Did I do something wrong by getting water someplace when I washed the bike? Thanks for any help.
It was a fuse, I tried 2 more and each fuse I installed also blew. I will let it dry overnight and see if it works tomorrow. How do I prevent this from happening in the future? Or will this short a fuse out each time I wash the bike?
On foggy mornings my speedometer is wet and reads 20mph off. The seal around them is very poor. Try putting a baggie over it when you wash the bike. Just a thought.
