Hey, got a problem with my speedometer on an '06 883C. It worked fine last night on the way home, but this afternoon when I got ready to go to work, nothing. The backlight does not come on, no check engine light, no oil light when turning on the key, and of course no odometer or mph readings. I checked all my fuses and they are good, couldn't find any pinched or loose wires anywhere. I have not washed the bike so it's not from having high pressure water sprayed around it. It appears to be getting no power. Other than the speedo, everything work on the bike...all the idiot lights work (except the check engine, and battery), the running light, brake lights and signals all work properly. I'm not sure what to look at tomorrow to try and get it working. Any advice y'all can give me will be appreciated.
Going to pull the speedo out today and see if I can find anything. I'll post back with progress. Hopefully i can track down the problem or someone on here can help me figure it out.
I did just notice that this morning, when I turn on the key and flip the switch to run to start the bike, the signals will flash a couple of times (at least the lights on the idiot panel do) and if I turn on the right blinker, the speedo needle will twitch a bit. Off to an interview now and then pulling the bars and speedo to see if I can track this down. Anyone have any suggestions of where I can look to find the problem.
Update: Just pulled the bars and the speedo. All the connections for the speedo are dry and seated well, no pinched wires, and the wires in the switch housings are good. The battery connections are also tight. When putting the kill switch in the run position, the signals blink 6 times. I am sure this is a diagnostic code but I can find nothing on it. Also, when riding, if the right signal is on and I go over some bumps, the odometer readout will flicker a little. Not sure what is going on with this thing. Still looking for some hints.
Just torn the thing apart again and can't find anything loose. I pulled and cleaned the speed sensor hoping that would help and still nothing. I have it set up to take to the dealer Sat. morning, but hoping I can get it sorted out somehow before that.
I found the procedure to check TSM codes and the code that was flashed is not one of the ones listed. Could the TSM be bad and causing the problem with the speedometer?
