drag bars with internal wiring looks cool. (hopefully nxt projct)
quick question.....i hav a 1200n and want 2 blk out the motor
how did u do yours? powder coat or paint?
problem iz i dont hav any powder coaters near me for 1000s of miles
and my stealers r jus plain useless.
thanks
i called my local dealer and they said any high temp paint would work i put a lot of time in making sure everything was taped off good even went and bought bolts to put in motor and covers so i could reinstall the factory ones to have stainless bolts still and not everything black makes it stand out more
Hey DenimNighster, great idea.!!... but I have a concern the bracket design; although I am not a Mechanical Engineer, I have decent knowledge in mechanical matters, and there seems to be a weakness point in the design that I will try to illustrate in the following diagram:
As you can see, there is a leveler action caused by the combination of the weight coming from the shock and the extension bolt, generating a fatigue/weakness point at the bolt itself, and there is no opposite leveler action on the opposite side of the bolt to cancel out the leveler action....
Please forgive me if I am totally wrong about it, but if this is true, then it is a very dangerous issue..
Ok, it is time to duck and cover now.... mechanical engineers... please chime in!

bike looks really good. i love the blacked out motor with the sanded finns. as far as the shock problem goes, i would make another plate for the outside of the shock. that way you would have no levered problems

So I'm correct in understanding that you left all of the covers on the bike when you painted them? Just some new bolts plastic and tape to protect the rest of the bike?
