I have an 05 883 with V&H's on it. They aren't the short shots, they are the Straightshots. Going from stock pipes to these V&H's is like night and day. I wasn't expecting them to be as loud as they are and when I took out the bike that day, they gave me a headache. Great Pipes for sure.
Where do you get the quiet baffles and how much do they run?
Look on e-bay - s/b 30-40 ea.
Like the other posts, V&H SS have excellent quality - good chrome & great sound - may want the baffles, I did largely due to the rash sound at freeway speeds.

Check out Dennis Kirk. They were the cheapest when I looked. They were $52 for the pair. They ship free on orders over $100, as well. So, I'm sure there's something else you want to buy from them. They are pretty cheap across the board.
I just added the Short Shots on my Nightster and with the baffles in, they are LOUD! I also left the heat shields off and wrapped them with dark grey wrap. Looks awsome and sounds better. Driving at low speeds sound incredible and cruising at 65 leaves you with a even drone that not too bad.
Yep...V&H Short Shots are LOUD. Nice pipes, good quality and loud...especially loud after riding for a few hours....get used to saying...WHAT? after you ride...lol
I've got V&H pipes on both my bikes. Straightshots no baffles on the Sportster...and they are loud....and Double Barrels with quiet baffles on the Deluxe...Deep rumble not as loud as the Sporty...Both are great pipes.
I too have the Straightshots. They are loud, but I love them.I just wish V&H would make the shortshots for the 2003 Sportster
