Just got my first Harley...04 Sportster 1200C and was wondering what kind of gas mileage I should get. It has the 4.5 gal tank. Thanks.

I bought a new 06 1200C and just checked my mileage for the first time. I got 48 mpg. That includes both city and freeway driving... and I haven't been going easy on the trottle and I've been cruising at 75 - 80 mph and it's still a new tight engine. I'm very pleased with my mileage so far!

I've got a 2005 XL1200R and the mileage per gallon has been creeping upwards since I bought it. At the moment I'm averaging 56 mpg with 2,500 miles on it.

Plus or minus 50 mpg. On my trip from Nashville to Tucson I ran it from full to reserve just to learn how far it was capable of going and at EXACTLY 175 miles I had to go on reserve.

I'm getting somewhere between 40-50. 175 seems to be the magic number for the reserve if I let it go that long between fill-ups.

I've got a new 2006 xl1200c. On the 3 tanks of gas I've checked, I've got 52, 52, and 56. The 56 was about 1/2 highway crusing at 65 - 70 mph, the other two tanks were just backroad and around town kinda driving. I will be putting a set of SE II's and a new breather kit in the next week, so I am curious to see what this will do to my milage.
