I just purchased my first bike, an 1995 883 sportster. What is the best oil, and trans fluid to use. I live in arkansas, the summer gets hot and humid around 95-100 + heat index. I appreciate any and all help.

Well everybody has there own preference so its hard to say but I think either asmoil 20w/50 or castrol v tech 20w/50.But as long as you keep it changed regularly and make sure it has plenty in it you should be fine.I use the same oil in the engine and the tranny

If you do your research and check several reports and check out the additives and such you will find Mobil 1 Vtwin 20/50 at or near the top in about every study out there........Some might like some better but all agree it is a great oil.....After MUCH research on 20/50 oils I came to the conclusion that Mobil 1Vtwin or Redline are the only ones I would trust......I run a 450Hp Small Block Chevy in my Offshore Powerboat and trust me it works.....You want to know what oil's work great look at what the offshore guys run. Nothing harder on a engine than doing a 30 mile run at 5000rpms.....Think about it boats don't shift and they are ALWAYS under a load....But I would tell anybody to do their own research and do an oil study every year ($25 or so) and find out how your oil and engine are doing.......
