Also if you go with the chrome covers and take the bike to the dealer for service they charge extra because they have to remove the covers first,my local dealer said they charge up to 1/2 hour more in labor for full service .
Does anyone in Australia know what the Right Side Covers would cost?? My bike repaired by Ins Co & Primary Cover fitted in Chrome. Now recon will do the Right Side.
I just put the covers on last night and they do come with all the hardware and instructions, it took me about an hr to do the Sprocket cover and the gear case ! Really not hard to do at all and we all thought they look really good. I need to do the Primary side Sat I'm sure this is a little more involved but I will let you all know how it turned out !
I found the Sprocket and gear covers used for 70.00 from a guy on here Harley Brand and they fit like a glove just like they say !
The chrome covers for the cam side look good but you need a real primary cover that's chromed, the primary cover looks cheesie, shop EBAY you can find a good used cheap one at times, as well as rocker boxes.
Polishing costs quiet a lot to have done, you have to remove the covers, remove the powder coat which can be a real job alone and then after you are done you still have to polish the covers all the time to keep them looking good.
Unless you have real experiance with polishing large pieces and have good polishing equipment you might end up spending a whole lot of time on this project and then still have to take them in and have them redone professionaly or still have to buy chrome covers.
I have done exactly what you are contemplating and I found it was worth it to save just a little longer and get the chrome.
