PUT NEW OIL TEMP DIPSTICK IN AND NOW LEAKS OIL ONTO THE SIDE OF THE BIKE
TRIED THE O RING OFF THE STOCK DIPSTICK STILL SAME PROBLEM
2005 883 CUSTOM THE STOCK DIPSTICK NEVER LEAKED OIL.
ANY SUGGESTIONS.
Ya, the dipstick is defective. Take it back to the dealer and make them give you a new one. They charge more than enough for those crappy parts and come with crappy warranties of 90 days where after that they just tell you they can't do anything. Do not hesitate for a second to make them give you a new one.
OK MAYBE IT IS ME BUT WHAT IS WITH A OIL TEMP DIPSTICK IF IM THAT WORRIED ABUT THE TEMP OF THE OIL ILL GET A OIL COOLER ALONG WITH THE MUD FLAPS AND COON TAIL
Most get the oil temp dipstick because it's easier to turn than the stock dipstick. The stock one has sliced more than one finger and sometimes is impossible to get out. The consensus is that people hate the stock dipstick design. The oil temp reading is just an added bonus. I use it to know when i can get on the bike because it is fully warmed up.
I finally figured out that the stock dip stick is alot easier to get out if I leave my riding gloves on to remove it. Sounds simple but makes a world of difference.
