Default 1200 custom

It's been a week since I picked up my 2009 Sportster 1200 custom, I have been riding everyday. Yesterday I was going 55 on a highway when a truck came the other way, and I felt it bigtime. I am 6' 200 llbs. and didn't expect to be knocked around like that ! Do Sporties get knocked around alot ?

Sometimes you just get that "Perfect Storm" of conditions i.e. crosswinds, speed etc and it can put a real push on ya. I've ridden everything from 1800 Wings to 50CC mopeds and the sporty is no more or less prone to wind effects than anything else it's size, come to think of it I don't seem to fell much difference in buffeting between it and the 1200 Wing I had before I got it.....

I live near Chicago and there are days its just down right windy and it moves me around. The first time it startled me a little. Yes you will get pushed around from time to time when the big trucks pass you.

I don't notice it much. I come to expect some sort of movement when a truck comes the opposite way. I scoot over to the right of the lane when I see a truck coming the other way on a two lane roads

I notice truck effect the most when I follow one about 200 feet back, the wind off the top of the trailer makes my bke wiggle a little. Not scary though, I just change lanes and it quits.

Try to stay with in a foot of the shoulder when one pass you, helps to cut down on the wind blast from them.

Yea mine moves around a little bit also. Nothing too scary but you can definately feel it. The worst is riding on a really windy day when the wind keeps pushin that tall, skinny front wheel

Yep..they sure do get knocked around when trucks pass and especially in heavy cross winds. I notice it a lot more on my Sportster than I do my Deluxe but it happens from time to time on the Deluxe...just not as bad.
