I bought the Primary COVER just the cover and was getting read to install it and this guy said that as soon as I take the inspection covers off there will be oil coming out ???????? I don't think so but he was pretty serious about it so I didn't do it !
I read the instructions and no where in them said to beware of oil coming out at all !
If anyone on here has installed the Primary cover I would like to here how the installation went. To me it looks simple from taking the neg wire off the battery to removing the forward controls and the clutch cable.
Please let me know what I'm up against I am off tomorrow and would like to tackle this cover asap !
It's just a chrome Primary cover it mounts over the Aluminum outer Primary cover ! I would imagine I could just leave the Derby cover on and the cover will go right over top !

You're replacing the clutch inspection cover, or "Derby Cover" only? In that case you won't need to drain the oil, but you might want to keep the bike upright while swapping covers.
The Inspection cover and derby cover have already been replaced with Chrome ones befor I got the bike for my son , he just want's the cover in the picture installed ! I think I can leave the insp cover and the Derby cove on and put the cover on over top,no where in the instructions does it say to remove them ! What about the clutch cable is this easy ?

If that's what you're doing, you should have to remove the inspection cover, derby cover and 4 or 5 bolts to fit it on. You may also have to loosen (or remove) the forward control. Not sure about the clutch cable - depends on how the new cover fits over yours.

A derby cover usually fits over the primary cover, but I can't tell if that's the case with yours. Can't see if the inspection cover fits the same way or not either.
Depending on how this cover fits over yours, you may not have to remove the clutch cable or the derby cover.
If you haven't messed with the clutch before, you might want to take a look at a shop manual which will tell you how to remove and replace/adjust it properly. Not hard to do once you've done it...

OK, never mind the above posts. As I understand it, your just installing the "fake" chrome OVERLAY cover that goes on top of the existing primary case.
In that case there's no need to drain the oil. Just keep the bike standing vertical when you remove the derby cover. That way the oil won't spill.
