Default Oil Check Question...

Just bought another Sportster (2006) and am wondering how to check the oil properly. I know hot and on the side stand but do you completely reinsert, twist and pop in the dip stick or just a twist and no pop-in. Twist or no? My last bike was just: set the dipstick on the top but do not thread. Anyone know the right answer??

Thanks for the help.

Barry

You remove it, wipe it clean, reinsert it completely, remove it again and read it.

That's 2 for twist and pop in and 1 for twist only.

Hmmm....clear as mud.

no need to push in the pop-up part... that doesn't move the stick, it just raises the **** so you can remove it.
