I've kept one other Harley (Heritage Classic) and a BMW (R1150 RT) in my garage within the past 5 years. Now I have an 05 1200 C I keep in the garage. If I close the garage door as soon as I bring the bike home the garage will smell like sh*t for hours. Consequently I leave the garage door open to "air things out" and thus my bike gets dustier especially when it's windy out. I can't win.
What has Harley done to cause such a rotten odor? I assume it's the catalytic converter but my other bikes and cars don't smell like that.
I don't believe the '05 1200C has a catalytic converter.
Can't help you with the smell, as I also have a 2005 1200C, and I don't notice any abnormal smell after it is parked. Sometimes I even bring it in the house to work on it, and I've never noticed anything like you mentioned.
I have an 05 1200C as well and have never smelled anything nasty either. You need to start searching for something that you ran over or crawled into your bike and died.
Mine has a little smell coming from it but it's actually a pleasant aroma and I only notice it when she's hot. Basically, it smells like a gas engine. Nothing really foul just that wonderful hot engine/race car type smell...I love it :-)
