It's been two years since mine & the memory hasn't come back. I'm actually glad cuz I don't WANT to remember seeing myself that broken (They say I remained conscious for the whole thing).
No, you do not lose the urge to make faces at people who stare!
Keep that sense of humor! It will serve you much better than crying in your beer. We still make one-arm jokes all the time around here.
Hope you have a speedy recovery &, if you need to talk, PM me you number & I'll give you a call.

Thank you Gypsylady! I know it is stupid, but I didn't want to talk with you until I didn't sound like a drunk anymore. What with all the facial fractures and nerve damage. I sound normal again... good, bad, or otherwise! Ha
I will PM you if you are still available for that chat... I would very much like that.
Thank you again for the warm post.
Okay-let's see if I post with this tiny little keyboard on my phone...with one eye! :-O
Thank you Gypsy for the long talk. It was good to chat with someone who 'gets' it! God be with you & your family, and may you get a quick court date & be able to move ahead with your life with waaay more than the chump change they offered ya!!
Freebird! Another person who uses 'dirtside'! :-) ya made me smile.
I leave for the hospital @ 3:30ish am for my eye surgery - wish me luck!
I hope 2b seeing 'one' again!!!

Just talked to Amzie. The surgery went well & she's seeing ONE again!
She says her eyes are sore yet but, as soon as they recover a bit more, she'll be back posting. She misses the boards!
I just happened to stumble across your story. I feel your pain. I was in a bad one last year. A small child darted out from behind a parked car. I had to ditch my bike or I would have killed him. I managed to dang near tear off my right foot. Ended up shattering the talus bone that attaches the foot to the leg.....lots of physical therapy. 175 staples in my head and a messed up right eye as well. It was a long road of recovery but I made it and it sounds like you have the willpower to also. I remember the nights of just going crazy wanting to just be able to get up and walk. But, here I am....knees in the breeze and riding once again. Good luck on your journey.
