can anyone help i'v got conflicting advice on this.
I'v got an 86 sporty when I hit about 45 to 50 mph the frunt end seems to
want to sway from side to side. air presure good all bolts are tight.
bearings seem ok.
was told I need a lower fork brace and or thicker fork oil
and anouther said my stearing head bearings are bad any help would be great
steering bearings, front end fall away test and have the front tire balanced, it takes very little wear on the tire to throw it off balance. bike tires and balance are not as forgivable as car tires.....do a search on "dyna beads" for balancing. also make sure the rear tire is in the same plane as the front...if it is not centered it can cause tracking problems as well.
get it taken care of real soon, you do not want to find yourself in a head shake / tank slapper !
