How do you get the 883 sporster decals off the gas tank?

The only thing I can tell you is I thought HD put the decals under the clear coat, I know the ones on mine are.

Yup. Not sure which model or year you have, but most are under the clear. Therefore, the only way to remove them is to get out a sander. Just be ready to repaint and clear the tank.

I agree with what has already been said. On the bikes that I have seen, the paint goes over the decals. Sorry, there seems to be no easy way to get them off without doing the paint thing.
