Just got a 2008 Nightster yesterday and I still haven't had a chance to ride it. I've ordered a helmet and jacket online and it's supposed to come today but I'm just waiting for the damn thing to arrive so I can hop on, take a ride, and put some air in the tires (it's quite low at 25 psi in the rear and 15 in the front).
I've opened the garage door many times just looking at it and it's about to drive me crazy. When the FedEx guy gets here I may just have to beat the crap out of him for being so late and to get rid of some built up stress.
I actually took the course first and then after the course ended, all I could think about was riding. Lucky for me, things kind of fell in place and I got this bike 9 days after the course ended.
A little nervous about riding a 1200 cc bike after putt-in' around on a 250 cc bike in an empty parking lot but we all have to start somewhere, right?
Even after you get the helmet and jacket, you'll be opening that garage door, just to look at it and/or making excuses to go into the garage.
Enjoy your bike and ride safely.
I feel you. I just came in from looking at mine. I am stuck here inside studying for an exam... I might just have to go take a study break for an hour or so...
with the tire pressure bieng that low becareful untuil you get the tires up to pressure. then ride the hell out of it. the last time i had something sent to me through fedex it didn't arrive until the sun had went down.
Got my helmet and just got back from riding the country roads for about an hour. I can't wipe the damn grin off my face.
I bought a full face helmet since I'm a newbie but I have already experienced the benefit of it as a piece of tire got kicked up and hit me on the face shield. I probably would have a huge red spot on my face if I was wearing a beanie... Great lesson on the first ride.
Love the feeling when people stare at intersections. I'm hooked and my ears are ringing from the loud exhaust but like I said, I can't seem to wipe this damn grin off my face.
PS...I haven't put any air in the tires yet as I wanted to familiarize myself a little with the bike before having to pull into a busy gas station but I feel good now and I'll probably get that taken care of later this evening after rush hour.
ADDED PIC - Not the best background in the world but it's a pic.

Nothin' wrong with a full face. Hell son I've been riding for 40 years and usually wear a full face . Enjoy, have fun, stay alert and rack up those miles!
