Default nightster personalizing

Ok I have been looking around some and most of the nightsters I see have the same few things: vance and hines short shots, drag bars, tank lift, and a speedo relocation. I admit that all of these things make the bike look amazing but I am looking to do something a little diff, but I am not the most experienced with bikes. I was curious if i were to fab up an exhaust that i like with no baffles or anything like that how far from the VH would it sound like is there anything special in the actual exhaust pipe. The next question i have is is there a reason like the speedo relocation is always on the left? I want to put it on the right and put a hand clutch police-style shifter on the left is that possible? The last thing that I am interested in are clip ons I love the look and how clean it makes the bike look but what exactly do I need for a 08 nightster so make them work? Thanks in advance everyone.

First of all, you can pretty much put the speedo anywhere you have a bolt using the AutoMeter clamp from Summitt racing. Second, as far as the clip-ons, all you need are the clip-ons. just make sure you get 39mm clamp and 1'' bars. Third, I've seen many bikes with ''muffler shop'' straight pipes and they sound good.

Thanks alot man I was actually hoping you would be the one that would reply because i love your bike man you have done an amazing job. So as far as the clip ons do they have to be notched like the normal bars and did you use your factory grip assemblies on the clip ons like the signal switches? I think that I am going to just go with some custom fabbed straight pipes just wasn't sure if they sounded bad.

Thanks for the compliment! I actually cut a small notch on the bottom of the clamp next to the stock controls With a dremmel (I have no idea what the clamp is called) just big enough to get the wires thru. This way I can use any bar dimpled or not. And they are the stock controls, just different grips. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Good luck!!!
