Hey ya'll I was just wondering what grade of gas you use in your bikes. Mine is a 2006 XLH883 sportster and I have yet to put gas in it yet and plan on putting a few miles on it today and have been putting some on it just by short cruises around the subdivision and the back roads around it. I will more than likely be putting some gas in it today and just wanted to hear what everyone else does. Thanks
The 883's have a compression ratio of 8.9:1, and HD recommends using 87 octane fuel.
The 1200's have a higher compression ration of 9.7:1, and HD recommends using 91 octane fuel.
I know of some with the 883's that are running the higher octane gas. It really depends on the tune of your bike, local conditions such as your elevation, quality of fuel in your area, etc.
I've gotta ask. Where the Hell do you get 110 octane gas? That's not at your local Sunoco is it?
BTW, I run 91-93 in my 883, but my sig will tell you why. If your motor is stock - 87 Octane should be just fine. Just avoid the no-name run down stations.
