Default Tired of drag bar?

Is there anybody else that gets tired of their drag bar?
I went for a ride yesterday, and really craved some comfort. Ive been having my drags for 3 yrs and would like a change.
I rode to the Harley shop, and found a set of original 2003 softail deuce handlebars.
They are a big higher than stock Sporty handlebars.
I wanted mini-apes, but Louisiana law changed the height of handlebars, and i dont feel like spending all that money to relocate the speedo, cables, and bars.

I bought the Deuce handlebars, to try them out. I should not have to change cables, except maybe the brake line.

I will post pics when i have them installed.

I've had my drag bars for two years and still love them but that's the great thing about a Sportster, you can make it anything you want from a cafe racer to a bager.

I've had 2 set of drag bars and they suck, they make the bike way to twitchy and they kill your back.

I'm in the same postion right now. I love the look of my drags but I want a change. I still have my stock XL1200C bars and was thinking of swapping with my drags, but, I don't want the stock look again. I wanted to maybe mount them on 6" straight risers, but, then I have to do all the speedo relocation crap and I like having my speedo tucked neatly in front of my risers. I suppose I just want my arms elevated a bit.

There really aren't a lot of bars out there that will look decent with the stock pull-back riser besides drags and the stock bars. I though about z-bars, but, I can't seem to find a picture of them on a 1200C.

Looking forward to your pics.

Nope! I love my drag bars and have even been thinking about takeing the 4" risers off so they are lower. You bike looks killer as is so why kill the look?

i just installed my bars; stock 2003 Softail Deuce.
They do not look as nice as the drag bar, but they are very very comfortable.
I can give up the looks for the comfort.
I rode those drag bars for 3 yrs, and still have it just in case.

I understand your pain and also your reluctance to pay for what's required to make it right for you.

I recently bought a new Iron and instantly discovered she needed new bars and forward foot controls.(hey, that's just me and what I like) The stock bars were way too low and way too narrow, and I wanted my feet up forward like on my '07 XL1200C.

So I bought 8' rise black Tbars and a Joker Machine speedo mount plus HD's extended wiring harness, plus extended black cables from Magnum Shielding....The Tbars are 32" wide!.....I also added HD's mini fairing(which I instantly painted demin black).

Friend, if you lived close I'd give you the scoot for a day and let you decide yourself.....But I'm certain you would agree like me and all my friends that you need taller and wider bars and perhaps forward foot controls like mine......Sorry, but there ain't no way to save bucks except to search for best prices and do the labor yourself

Hell, you DO live sorta close!

I'm up just North of you near Alexandria, La on hwy 71

Come ride my Iron if you want....It will soon have 8" tall 32" wide drag style Tbars and forward controls...stay the night or the week and eat and drink till you hurt.

Call me @ 3184461052 if you are in the area or wanna come this direction.
