Some stupid stuff that I cannot figure out why it is happening! I bought my 06 sportster new and why am I have these problems. The steering wobbles when I let off the throttle when driving at highway speeds and it also wobbles when I apply the front brake. Then to add insult to injury the left signal switch just up and decided not to work. However, what the signal will do is to come on by itself when I first turn on the bike and wont shut off unless I use the right signal. Unbelieveable!
I had a 20 some year old kawasaki and I could see these problems with that but, not a brand new bike!
When I wash the bike the signals are the first thing I dry off with my air compressor. This crap with the signal has been going on since 2 wks after I bought it. Coming on by itself and not shutting off easily. I did not think any thing of it because it was so sporadick. Well I guess I was wrong. Did I mention that I have only had this bike for 1/ 1/2 months!
Sorry for the rant but, this really pisses me off! I love the bike but, if I have to put up with things just not working properly I am going to go crazy!
Maybe you have a faulty switch or something minor like that....
Take it in.... you have a two year unlimited mileage warranty don't you?
I know I have a neutral light coming on all the time while in gear.... but I deal with it..... can't stop ridding long enough to put in the shop for them to replace it... that's my fault... not Harley's.... The warranty is there....
Other than that my '05 has 10K on her and everything else has been good....
Take it to the dealership. The only questions they should be asking you are, whats wrong and are you leaving the bike with us or waiting for it... we'll fix it right away for free. That is if they're a respectable dealership. Thats the treatment i got from St. Joe HD, and I bought a 2 year old used bike from them 4 weeks ago. Crank positioning sensor went out. Went to a movie, came back and it was ready. NO CHARGE. They now have all my business.
I am taking it in on friday! What sucks is that it is such a damn inconvience from where i live to where I work. Oh well! I will let you know the out come of this ordeal. it is under warranty sorry if i failed to mention that!
Just a quick update! Rode the bike in this moring to work and had signal light problems with it coming on randomly and having to shut it off with the right signal switch and then the hazards would come on. So finally i got them to shut off! I had to do this like a dozen times on the way in. But, wait! It gets better. When i get to work the left switch now works just fine.
I think I am jinxed!
And I am sure that the switch will work just fine when I take it in for service!
That sucks to have those problems after only 1 1/2 months... I'm sure the dealer will get it squared away for you and the good news is that it will be fixed for free.
