Wide rear wheel/tire kit questions
My questions are:
What kits do ppl here have experience with? I'm specifically looking at the chopperkitusa.com kit but would like to explore options.
Does anyone have pics of the process? I've seen some cool pics of the final outcome...but none of the actual "job".
Does the front pulley cover fit back on with the offset pulley? (I assume an offset pulley is necessary with all kits that retain a belt final)
And lastly, after thoroughly reading the instructions for the kit I've mentioned, I don't see a definite, accurate method to reposition the rear rails once the frame has been spread. How did you do it?
I will only do this to use the PM wheels I have. I wouldn't think about doing it otherwise. It's just that I got this whole package for $400 & a little labor. If I'm not convinced I'll still love the bike afterward the way I do now I'll sell the wheels or hold out for a bike that they actually fit.
Thanks in advance.
I also used the stock rear fender / swingarm and didn't split the frame.
I did tweak the struts or "rails" as you called them. Then I just
flexed the stock fender to the struts. I did have to get creative
with button heads/reversing hardware. Good luck.

Anyway, seano, I'd be more interested in doing mine the way you did yours. I want to see more pics if you have some. Completed, during...any stage. Maybe some close-ups of the fittment in the stock swing arm. And definitely an overhead shot so I can see the positon of the top of your coil overs, struts & fender.
Thanks!

Anyway went with the Led Sled long, wide arm.Had to split the frame and reweld.I used the stock struts with an 11" fender over them.mreed I set up a center line reference line over my lift that was all bolted to the deck to get everything lined up.A portapower and torch was all I used to get it lined.Sure would have liked your way better seano.Made the seat myself.1"1/8 belt with a 3/4" offset sprocket.G.

last pic was before I heated and repositioned the fender frame rails.

As far as the pulley cover fitting back on. It definitly won't with the 250 tire/chain set-up like mine, but not sure about a 200 tire and belt. I'm thinking it probably won't fit back on, as there isn't a lot of clearance in it in stock form. Also, on mine I cut the stock fender struts off, and attached the ones that came with the Bros Mfg kit. Mine was a simple job to convert to the 250 tire.

I'm running a 200 tire & think the think the 250 kit with that tire will be too big for what I would want anyway. Just want it to look meatier, not fat.
I think seano gave me some good motivation to do it my own way.
I'm a custom suspension specialist. Frames & frame jigs are a daily thing for me and would be my first notion. I was just curious as to how others have done it. It seems like something I would want to jig but was just looking for someone that had specific experience in this application. I'm not much of a kit guy anyway..and I want it to look as stock as possible. I'm diggin the hell out of that stock fender idea.
I also have no problem going with a chain. It's just that I got a Roland Sands Judge belt pulley with the deal & it all matches & crap...and I can't find a Judge chain sprocket.

I guess I should've just taken mine apart to see what I was going to be dealing with before I jumped the gun & created a whole thread about it. I hope mine turns out as cool as the bikes in the pics so far.
Here's how I left it last night. I needed to remove the rear fender anyway...

Once it was all apart I could kind of envision it. Don't know what it's going to take yet but I'll figure it out.
Thanks again!
