I have a 08' Nightster and was looking at the relocation of the turn signals... Harley says to mount the turn signals on the lower portion of the forks. I have searched pictures and thats all I have seen is the relocation kit mounted to the lower forks instead of the upper portion of the forks... Can someone please tell me why there is no option for mounting the turn signals on the upper portion of the forks and if there are any pictures please post them also... Thank you very much from snow covered New Hampshire...
Not familiar with the HD branded relocation kit. But alot of people think they stick out too far. I have customchrome relocation kit on my 1200c and I put them on the top part of the forks because I usually have a fork bag mounted low. I have pictures on here if you want to take a look. It is a 1200c so they are chrome, but you can get them black also. Just in case you weren't aware, you have 39mm forks.
Hi, i just did this last night, this kit is easy and works well.
All you need to know is the post on the turn signal comes off via an allen wrench in the ball portion of it.
The bolt on my kit was a little too long, also but this kit fits the upper forks and does not stick out very far.
I bought mine off JP Cycles, very cheap, easy to do and was delivered to me in two days. You can either mount them on the upper or lower, its up to you. I did upper and it turned out great. Doesnt stick out far at all. The only bad part is it came in chrome so I sanded it, primed it, Painted it black and It came out great! Good luck!
Went with the Biker's Choice kit on my FXD with the smae front end as an X . Mounted them to the bottom but they can be mounted to the top as well. Cost less than 20 bucks and a very easy install.
I have the HD kit and you mount them to the lower fork tree-the one below the headlight. I have seen guys mount them to the upper tree that is even with the headlight, but I don't like the looks fo that as well. Make sure you do one side at a time so the forks do not move in the trees.
I agree the HD kit does stick out a bit far, but they are nice looking. The HD kit is not very strong and I cracked one a tad since I cranked the tree bolt down tight, but you can't tell.
