How short are you If a sportster is too small? I dont understand how height could affect putting the jiffy stand down.
What the OP probably means is that he can't push(extend) the jiffy stand all the way down by putting his foot near the bottom of the stand. I can't either, so I move the end of the stand down with my foot and slide my foot up along the stand to a point closer to the middle.
I push the middle of the stand in order to get the pad down to the ground. Then I shift my weight from my right foot to the left foot and hold the bottom of the stand down while I dismount.
I just added the Burly Slammer kit to my wife's 1200L. It dropped the bike significantly to where she can now stand flat footed and still have space between her bum and the stock seat. She 5 foot 7.
I'd recommend that route. Search ebay for great deals on them.
I thought that that tops of the tubes had a taper and would only go so far ? Why not use Progresive Suspension?
I am looking into a lowering kit. They all seems to be close to the same price. I don't know what the difference would be. I have used the progressive kit before. Maybe I'll stick with them.
Ok I have the front lowered by sliding the forks up in the trees. I lowered it about 1.5 inches. Looking at the level of the bike, it looks as if I could go lower. Now obviously the seat height wasn't changed as much but the bike looks a lot better sitting almost level.
You probably can't tell a difference because of the different light levels..
