This is a fairing I made for my bike. It's attached to a set of Vrod A model handlebars. It took me a month to make. I know it looks like it belongs on a Nightster/Iron but I like it.
I didn't think I would like the looks of a windshield on my 1200C either, but found a HD quick detach one in new condition on Clist for half the price of a new one & I love it...makes a HUGE difference riding. Also found HD leather bags & original SE race only slip-ons on there as well for $75 for the bags & $75 for the exhaust & all were basically new. Do some shopping. Love the windshield and the bags on mine now & I am more protected and can actually carry some stuff with me. Do what makes you happy...if you want a windshield, get one. The quick detach goes on/off in about 15 seconds..
I searched and searched for mine on eBay before I found it. Hoppe audio fairing. Having tunes for those long rides is also nice. And my Corbin bags that have more room than street glide are nice also. As far as looks I have been stoped by hot bike magazine in sturgis for several pics, and got a second place in the street class at bean Blossum just a week ago. And there was several street glides and road kings, ultras, ect.
