They sell small kits with most everything you'll likely need. All I added was a couple of new spark plugs. This isn't the actual kit I got, just an example:

Duct Tape
The only problem I have had on the road (knock on wood) was having my tail light screws vibrate out. My buddy pulled up next to me after about 60 miles and signaled that something was hanging off my bike and sure enough. I had to stop at an auto parts store to get some duct tape to hold everything together. Get the clear stuff, that way nobody can tell you are holding together yer chit with tape!
