Got a lot of tools in my garage ... a lot of tools ... a ... lot.
I'm planning on getting a fork bag and scrounging up some of my extra tools and was wondering what you guys all recommend to carry in it?
i carry a tire plug kit / co2 inflator
allen and torx wrench set the ones that fold out
leathermen
lectric tape
empty ziplock bag incase i get rained on and need waterproof baggy
a few zip ties
nothing much else
the best u can carry------- number to roadside lol
oh and a usb charger that fits the battery tender pigtail
Are you planning on it breaking down? LOL. I carry the HD tool kit that came with my bike. I also carry a few zip ties, rubber bumper for kickstand & I never leave home without my CC & AAA.
I carry a Leatherman Skeletool every day. A pair of pliers, screwdrivers and a knife that fit in my pocket. Bottle opener, too.
A long time ago, a grey-beard told me that if you know how to work on your bike at home, you don't need a tool bag. Actually, he didn't say "tool bag", but used a derogatory term I'll not repeat here.
Your battery terminals are 10mm.
You have to look at the realities of what you can repair on a road trip. I have a tire plug kit and a foot air pump i bought in the bike dept at Wallyworld. I can plug and pump my tire up to the proper inflation level if i get a flat. I've had punctures but never a flat until i pulled the nail out
I carry a Leatherman tool, crescent wrench pliers. My biggest concern is a flat. Stuff coming lose or falling off is not a concern. Beyond that my cell phone can fix any other problems. As long as you check stuff before you leave your good to go.
1/2 and 9/16 combination wrenches
1/2 - 9/16 flare wrench
follding alen wrench set
little screwdriver with changeable tips
small cresent wrench
leatherman
zip ties
ziplock baggies
small flashlight
tire plug set
electrical tape
I've rarely broke down on the road mostly needed the tools when I'm at home but what I need is there. Also if I'm on the road got them. The ziplock baggies are gotta haves. And plug set I always keep I don't pack a air pump I plug mine at stores that have them. Your best tool is keeping it in shape for riding and cell phone for emergencys.
You might want to re-think the fork bag for your tools. the weight adds up quickly. A saggy fork bag bouncing off the front fender has a tendency to remove the clear coat. I switched to a pillion type bag on the rear fender. A screwdriver with an assortment of tips, i.e. straight, phillips, torx, allen etc. all stored in a film canister
Are you planning on it breaking down? LOL. I carry the HD tool kit that came with my bike. I also carry a few zip ties, rubber bumper for kickstand & I never leave home without my CC & AAA.
What does the HD tool kit contain ? (I'm curious as to what the factory considered most helpful.)
