Depends on how low and hard of a ride you want. The lowest shocks available are 10" Lick's short shocks, & I think there's one other brand with 10"ers, but it'll be a rougher ride. I have the 10"ers and ride 2-up all the time, but my GF & I can handle it. Others go with 11" or higher. You could always go with the RK or SG lowering air shocks.
Thanks guys, are these lowering parts good parts off of ebay? I saw some the other day while browsing but didnt know if they could handle it, I mean sportsters arent the best for ride quality to begin with you know so I dont care if the ride gets a little worse...
I will try to look around and see if anyone has nightster shocks, thanks for the heads up man!
Your bike already has short shocks on it, and those lowering kits don't work well when riding 2 up or if you are a big guy.
You can have your factory shocks shorten by Skullman, I've done that a couple of times and it works well but again for 2 up riding you're asking for trouble.
O ok well I guess there is no hope for lowering it huh?
Yes, you can still lower the bike, but you need to figure out how low you want & can go depending on how/who is riding it. The lower you go the harder the ride will be and the more you might bottom out due to rider weight & spring rate. You also need to measure the length of your current shocks, (center of mounting bolt to center of mounting bolt). Oh, and I've heard stock Nightster shocks suck. You can either get shorter shocks or get one of those lowering kits to lower it, but you'll still need to adjust spring rate.
Thanks man I will measure the spring when I get home and see what I can come up with, I think they are 11inches but Im not sure... I need to ask the HD shop I guess jus tto see what they think will be the best thing

I wouldn't do that, but that's just me. Most likely, they'll talk you into some part and you'll only be moderately happy with it. I'd search some the lower threads in here to get some ideas on where you wanted to go with it.
