I have been researching forward controls for my Iron.
DO you have to go with the HD ones or does anybody got any recomendations on some aftermarket versions?
I have the HD controls on mine. But then again I had mine installed when i bought her so didn't look for aftermarket controls. FWIW I really like 'em, I'm 5'8" and they fit me just fine.
I did my research before I bought mine and came to the conclusion that the newer bikes are too new and forwards for them just have not been duplicated to the same specs of the Harley ones. In my opinion the Harley controls are of better quality than what is out there right now and for not much more than anywhere else. here is a dealer who sells forwards cheap. call them and ask them. https www.mandmcycles.com homepage.htm
Well I have the HD kit on my bike and they are super solid and look great. My Step dad has an aftermarket kit-not sure what brand on his 02 Sporty and they do not look near as good and we were riding one day and the left main bolt just broke off and the whole peg and mount hit the road and so did his foot. Thank God he did not wreck and he found the parts and we fixed them, but still that is bad news. HD stuff is made well.
I did the same search twice now on two different bikes and arrived at the conclusion that the HD ones are the best for the money. I would recommend a dealer search for different prices as some will offer a 10-15-20% discount and if they do the install it should be around $150. I love them, and at 5-11", they're a perfect stretch for me.
