I like the looks of the stock slash cut pipes on the new sportster 48, but would like a better performance exhaust. Any suggestions on a slash cut exhaust system? I would like slip-ons. I had v/h straightshots on my Superglide and really liked the sound, but they were straight. Appreciate any input. thanks
I would have to suggest Rush or Cycle Shack. You would want the bologna cut option if you like the stock slash cut look. Either one of these are loud, throaty pipes that will give much better performance than stock.
I had the same question. Does anybody know if the v&h shortshot staggered will fit on the 48? Just by looking I imagine the forward controls would be an issue...?

They should fit just fine. Lots of people on here have short shots with forward controls, and the 48 has the exact same frame as all the other sportster models. The front header pipe will run behind the forward control as apposed to in front like the stock headers.

Thanks for the reply. With out having physical set-up to look at/feel I was also wondering if that front pipe would interfere with your leg/foot?

I don't think it should be much different from the stock pipes as far as leg clearance. The air cleaner should keep your leg out and away from the pipes. I have sideshots with mid controls which puts the pipes much closer to the riders legs. The front header sets about 2-3 inches from my foot and I never notice the heat.
vance and hines side shots look nasty on the 48 in black
they are shortshots but drop back on an angle instead of the 90 degree bend...
sounds nasty too!!
